August 27th, 2006CALGARY (Sunday, August 27th,2006) –– Rob Lorifice, an 18-year-old from Carlsbad, Ca., made a major breakthrough Sunday by edging out Brazilian champion and X Games star Sandro Dias of Brazil in the men's Vert final at the $100,000 Slam City Jam North American skateboard championships at the Round Up Centre at Stampede Park.
"I can't even tell you what this means to me, to win this thing, here, on the (Boom Boom) Huck Jam ramp," said Lorifice, referring to the $1,000,000 Vert ramp designed and built by international skateboarding icon Tony Hawk of San Diego, California.
