KAREN JONES OF BRAZIL WINS WOMEN'S VERT TITLE AT SLAM CITY JAM
August 27th, 2006CALGARY (Sunday, August 27th,2006) ––Karen Jones of Brazil parlayed a complete sweep of six first-place scores to capture top honours in the Women's Vert finals at the $100,000 Slam City Jam North American skateboard championships today at the Round Up Centre at Stampede Park.
Jones edged out Holly Lyons of the U.S., who was ranked No. 2 across the board by the World Cup of Skateboarding judges panel. Third-place went to Vanessa Torres of Modesto, Ca.
Jones and Lyons were third and fifth, respectively, at X Games 12 held earlier this month in Los Angeles.
The lone Canadian in the Women's Vert final, Alison Nugget Matasi of Vancouver, finished sixth.
