CANADIANS LEAD STREET QUALIFYING FOR SLAM CITY JAM
August 26th, 2006CALGARY (Saturday, August 26, 2006) ––Ryan DeCenzo of Delta, B.C. and Sheldon Meleshinski of Vancouver earned the top two positions in qualifying for the Slam City Pro Street championships Saturday at Stampede Park.
DeCenzo, sponsored by Darkstar, Nixon, RDS, Spy and Thunder Trucks, earned a best average of 91.25 points to top the qualifying on the new Slam City street course at the Calgary Corral. He edged out Vancouver's Meleshinski, who finished second with 85.75 points.
Australian Chad Bartien and X Games star Greg Lutzka of the U.S. finished third and fourth with 84.75 and 84.25 points, respectively. Magnus Hanson of Surrey, B.C. was fifth with 83.75 points.
Sascha Daley, 19, of Courtenay, B.C. qualified in 27th place. Daley qualified by capturing top honours in the DC National amateur championships held Friday.
